Discover Pacaya Samiria on an Amazon Tour Expedition

Explore the vast Amazon rainforest and river with a trip that spends a week in Pacaya Samiria Natural Reserve. This remote region straddles the headwaters of the Amazon and its two main tributaries, and is home to some of the densest populations of endangered and rare animals. Spot pink river dolphins and owl monkeys from a glass-bottom boat, learn about native plant species from a shaman, and try your hand at fishing for red-bellied piranha. The Amazon’s collision of ecosystems and ancient traditions is unlike anything else in the world.

This expedition sails aboard Delfin II, a stately riverboat that accommodates just 28 guests in spacious suites with stunning Amazon views. The airy open spaces are detailed with clean lines in tropical hardwoods, and each of the 14 beautifully appointed outside suites has an ensuite bathroom, including a walk-in shower and a Jacuzzi tub. The spacious observation deck and covered lounge are perfect for viewing the canopy of trees bursting with bird life, and the chef creates delicious meals using local ingredients and recipes.

The crew and naturalist guides on this amazon tour expedition are experts in their field, and their enthusiasm for the rainforest is infectious. They are proud to share their knowledge and passion with travelers from around the world. Many of them were born and raised in the Amazon, growing up walking forest paths, climbing trees to pick fruit, and catching iguanas along the shoreline. Some have also participated in training sessions and projects with Peruvian and North American professors, researchers, scientists, and professionals involved with the conservation of the rainforest.

From your base in Iquitos, venture deep into Pacaya Samiria, the largest and most remote protected area of the Amazon. The pristine wilderness is the natural habitat of endangered and rare species like pink river dolphins, owl monkeys, and three-toed sloths.
